About

Olive Sayre is a multidisciplinary, Chicago based artist. Growing up, she was immersed in the NYC art scene from an early age, a foundation that continues to inform her practice. Her paintings are largely an avenue of expressing an attachment to the familiar and typically mundane, such as a brick wall or front door. Her work is often an exploration of the potential narratives to be found in the unremarkable. Her figurative works shifts between playful and candid, while her sculptural pieces draw from fairytales, fashion, and personal histories.

She pursued Studio Art and Food Studies at Syracuse University, where she received the 2022 M. Schaefer Award for Excellence in Art. She has also studied design at SVA and The Cooper Union. In 2022, she traveled to Tuscany to study art history and food science. Her work has been recognized with numerous Scholastic Gold Keys, and with a fellowship at Arrowmont School of Arts & Crafts in Tennessee.
